DJ was in Manchester for the May tour to see Chai, so we had shared pictures from the two gigs on Instagram. My Pics were spotted by Chai’s Manchester support – Stealing Sheep, DJ had already said they were really good, so I checked them out and they are.  Got a ticket to see them in Edinburgh Caves 27th November (Blogs for this and Ophelia Lies will follow)

After the gig was over, I went to introduce myself to DJ PIGG.  DJ was at the Superorganism gig back in October, he has a You Tube channel where he posts a song or two from whatever gig he’s been at, He’d put up a couple from Superorganisms so I left a message asking if he had any Chai? He did, also found out his Chai adventure pretty much mirrored mine.  Nice to know someone else fell through the looking glass at the same time.  Didn’t have time to stop long, I had to get back to Edinburgh, quick sleep before off to London, but great to finally catch up.

I have three more blogs in this series to go so don’t want to come to my conclusion yet... but I have long suspected that Chai are on a different level, it’s not just the music, the dances... it’s everything, Yuuki missing would and should have been a major setback for a band that interact in the way Chai do, but they were flawless.. as my trip goes on, the evidence mounts up…

Chai were fantastic.  It could be my imagination but Kana looked like she was rocking out more than usual with her extra bit of stage. They had managed to fill out the Bass sound, they had some backing tracks (SPI once played without a Bass Player, I can empathise). An awesome experience I won’t forget.
