OMAM belted their way through a good mix from all three albums, mostly new songs in the first half and classics in the second but they did I of the storm early on and Erupted in to Little Talks about half way through.  My eyes fixated on Nanna for most of the show, she floated about the stage, played a drum, played a keyboard, danced and swung her dress, sat on the stage... commanded the stage.  Raggi of course took his turns in the spotlight.

I was just as excited about seeing him (and the rest) but, well Nanna …

It wasn’t like the week’s music got better. It hit the ground sprinting and cruised its way through to the end.  From Ophelia Lies to Of Monsters and Men, each band brought a unique, mesmerizing and amazing performance, I even got two versions of Chai.  Utterly fantastic.  Now to start saving, how much for a couple of nights in Nagoya? I’ve set the bar too high, It’s the only way to top that.

I had wondered if they do Halloween in Iceland, I guess they do as the band had dressed for the occasion. Steingrimur wore an angel costume, Brnjar some weird sea captain thing? Kristjan at least made an effort with a devil mask, Arnar also had some weird mask, he did well to keep it on as long as he did.  Ragnar had splashed some fake blood about. Nanna shows them how its done, with her murdered doll look, only let down by the fact it’s impossible for Nanna to look scary, she looked gorgeous.

After the final encore the band took their bow and left the stage.  My tour over (less a bus ride) It felt complete though… but as an encore I now have gigs lined up to see Ophelia Lies and Stealing Sheep in November and Nova Twins in February.  All Edinburgh this time.  And I will see Laulia next year, I feel it in my creaky bones.
